Fixed?
Uncategorized June 12th, 2008So I did not know this, but I have been told and it seems that you can go to a race then lap the field then have officials say that it was pretty cool to watch, BUT the race will not count. That is crazy cool. Man, if that happened to me, I would be very pumped. Imagine putting out all that energy and it not counting, and then having to line up against the people who dropped out or got dropped the next day and race straight up. Like I said very cool. If I fell into the “got lapped” category (which I most likely would) I would have a hard time bringing myself to race. I might want to let the person who kicked my ass the night before go up the road and win the next day. I may want to parade around and ride at 10 miles an hour all day. Who knows. It is a tough call, but if a race is done it should be done. This sounds very NBA’esque. Officialsdetermining the outcome of events. I mean teams spending literally thousands of dollars to get to a race and having it not count. I am sure those teams would love that and be pumped they gave up another race to go to a race that has a rep for getting results wrong. I think the answer is for USA Cycling to come up with a 200 sided dice with all the riders names on it and just roll it to get results……Sayers you win blah blah crit….Nydam you win blah blah TT…that way teams could save their budget and pay guys more and we could stay home with our families.
By the way, the city of Sacramento is planning a victory parade for the 2002 Sacramento Kings who apparently won the 2002 NBA Championship…..or some guys in black and white stripes can give it to the Losers…I mean Lakers. Hey J-Will, hey M-Bib, hey Weber you all just won the 2002 NBA FInals!!!! Where you going to next???? “Were going to Disneyland!!!” Sacramento…Title Town USA, Baby! Lakers suck go Celtics.

it rained way more just before the women than the men’s race but everyone was talking about how bad the conditions were for the men.
Was it really that bad or were guys just not leaving the course when they should have?
June 12th, 2008 at 9:51 am
A bit of both but when speeds are much higher in mens races and guys chop corners it can get out of control. I like the dice idea then I have a good chance to actually winning a race.

Why didn’t they just shorten it? I thought thats what they did at the NVGP? Just blow the whistle and say, 1 to go after the top 10 guys road past the line. Then 11th place guy, the first guy to hear what they actually said, attacks, chops everyone in the turn, gets a gap, and solo’s in for the win. Oh, wait a minute, that’s how Tilford won that rainy crit stage of the NVGP. Hey, it works out for them. Then they don’t have to post results. Cuz, we all now officials hate to post results, especially in a reasonable amount of time.
Sayers, I know your number one fear of retiring is the inevitable fact of gaining weight. But, I lobby that you take another one for the team, and become a race official for 09. As well as a local race promoter. Hell, if you were an official you could probably put that motorcycle your planning on getting to good use. With the little one on the back enforcing the centerline with his foot and or nerf bat.

Hey, Greatest Amurican. If your looking at the big amurican flag constellation in the sky then yes, I’m thinking of you. Man, you know who is a mother f’n bandwidth stealer? Sayers! thats who!
I think we should talk talk to each other on sayers blog like So Pro and Bird do. Its been awhile. You still night security gard? Is your lady legal yet?
June 12th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
It is the american flag constellation, oh I knew you hadn’t forgot me! haha. Yea man, I am working Real Estate in DOwtown Beantown right now. Its a pretty sick gig! I am considering coming out of retirement for next year and git my good ol legs fixed, but I dunno yet. Yea, the lady is legal, my parents don’t know though haha! How bout you man? How is the lady? CHEERRRIISSEE! oh yes, and WHITE PANTS!

Real Estate. Damn. You really seem to pick the big winners. First Amurican cycling when d3 teams are a dime a dozen and now real estate while its tankin. Are you driving the skyhalk around showing off condo’s and stuff? Is Dom still wedged in the back somewhere? I bet he is. There’s no way you could of got him out of that think. He probably disappeared in the cracks where the seat belts always disappear.
Yeah, man you should come out of retirement. The scene needs another fellow amurican especially someone to keep it real. Man, I’ve carried the “white pants” slogan along way. I got sayers saying it now a days. Actually I think everyone on the team says it. Its a hit. You should get royalties.

Horse shit is what that was… Seriously, that may be the worst call ever, if they wanted to blow off the time cut and let all the girls race that fine but if two chicks managed to lap the field and everyone was racing on the same course at the same time then there is no reason to cancel the results AFTER the race.

JOnes, I was hoping we could both use this space as a forum for us retired to communicate to these young bucks still in the peloton. Given Sayers blog is the original purpose of the site, and he will soon be among us retired, maybe others can talk on here, other retired pros like Ryan Pinkham, Gord and such.
Amurican- Yea Real Estate is great, in Boston agents can rent apartments as well as sell, and any apartent I rent we get 1 months rent commission which I split with my boss and every apartment starts at like 2k a month.
I got rid of the hawk, but when I sold it, Dom was still wedged in the back, turns out he prevented the car from putting out its full 97 hp’s. Ah well..
Didn’t you get a tacoma or some crap???
Yea man, the comeback is hot on my mind, I just need surgery and BAM back better then ever!
You can send white pants royalties to my paypal account thanks! haha.

greatest amurican,
I didnt retire, i quit.
remember when you drove cross country, slept in a parking lot in your car, got up and brushed your teeth in the parking lot then kitted up and raced stage one of tour of CT? that was funny, if that was the standard for pro racing, i might want to race again, that is if everyone had to do it.
too bad you sold the blackhawk, i could have donated some HP from my truck, i dont need all ten cylinders, in fact i cant afford them.
I just looked at house that is selling for more than what you rent some of those places for in boston, for a month.
k, see ya, we can talk since bird seems to be busy racing.
Hi Sayers.

D-Spot. Sorry. I forgot were suppose to use code names. Fellow Amurican. I still got the exploder. Its solid. Hit 200k just a few weeks ago. I had my fire suit on, helmet, and extinguisher in the car just in case anything funny went down. I actually was driving up to sayers on that historical day.
No Tacoma for me. I’m actually rockin a red dragon these days. an 86 Honda elite Ch150 d. The d is for deluxe. And I added some flare to mine. Put a bike rack and wheel rack on the bad boy. I’m gonna ride it out to the local race tomorrow and hope no one steals it while I’m racing. But yeah, 5 cents a mile on the red dragon. Solid. And she’s good for motor pacing too.
Anyways, you and Jones must be money making machines with all that time off the bike. Anyways, Keep it real. And keep it amurican, unless amuricans don’t make scooters. Then go with a honda.
